Just think of Office Bench 2001 as the 3D Mark of office applications. (Lower is Better) This test comprises of a few things occurring at the same time, and isn’t a heavy load by any means. In this graph we see that the Pentium 3 is still slower then the Athlon when there is a light load on the processor. You will most likely not notice much difference from day to day use if you are upgrading from a P3 1 GHz. Seeing how the Athlon performs faster then the Pentium 3 1200 MHz in the baseline tests, lets throw on a full load. (Lower is better) While the Athlon was leading in the baseline test, increasing the load to maximum we see the Pentium 3 1.2 GHz outperform the Athlon 1.2 GHz by 23%. Finally we see the Pentium 3 1.2 GHz outperform the Athlon at equal clock speed. A stress load this significant will obviously be witnessed in servers and or high end workstation environment. Keeping that in mind, we see the P3 1.2 GHz well suited for a Server and High end workstation environment. |
