Jumping from a P3 1 GHz, we see the performance increase to only be around 5%. Maybe with the next 3D Mark 2001 patch we will see 3D Mark detect the Tualatin correctly and show a higher performance increase. Quake 3 In Quake 3 we typically see favorability towards Intel due to SSE optimizations. At a low resolution of 800x600, we see the processor being used more then the Video Card itself. The P3 1.2 GHz of course comes out on top with a 9% FPS increase over the P3 1 GHz. Bumping the resolution up to 1024x768 and 1280x1024 we see the Radeon holding the whole system back from any noticeable speed increases. Owners of GeForce 2/3’s should notice a bigger speed increase since the Radeon is holding the system back from showing any kind of performance gain. |
