I wish more companies would consider a real EQ rather than just enabling the use of Bass and Treble controls. The last time I saw a 10 band EQ built into drivers like this was with my Aureal card. ![]() MIDI controls Everything seems fine here except that if you load a DLS synthbank file that is larger than 50MB, it will give Windows 2000 a BSOD. Keep in mind though that these are beta drivers and things should be in good condition once they are released to the public. ![]() 3D sound settings Turning 3D acceleration on and off is and easy affair with these drivers as it allows you to enable and disable features on the fly. On the retail CD, turning Sensaura 3D sound off or on would require a reboot. Something that’s missing from this page that was in the original driver set is Echo Elimination. This was a feature that reduced or totally eliminated feedback when a microphone was used to record while the speakers were playing the same thing back at the same time. After installing the new drivers sent to me from Hercules, everything seemed to go well and things are still going well as I write this. Overall, the new 2.x WDM drivers for Windows 2000 are pretty stable, even with DirectX 8. As for Windows 9x, it’s already stable with what’s available on Hercules’ website. |
