All you need is the Coolbits registry patch that is available in our Files section. Just simply run the .reg file and import the settings. Once that’s done, open Display Properties and go into the GeForce settings. There should be a new tab there called Hardware Options. You can overclock both the core and memory speeds from this tab. A reboot is required before doing so to make sure everything works as planned. Below is a chart showing the overclocking ability and performance of all the GeForce3 cards I have taken a look at. ![]() I managed to push the Prophet 3 to a core speed of 250MHz and memory to 548MHz. Indeed the efficient heatsinks on the Prophet 3 helped its memory scale higher than the rest of the cards. The reason why we don’t see that small increase is because of the efficiency of the GeForce3. It’s better to overclock less efficient cards like the GeForce2 line or the Radeon line since those cards don’t implement memory access architecture that’s quite as sophisticated as the GeForce3. Summing Things Up Performance: [ 9.6/10 ] The Prophet 3 performs very well just like all the other GeForce3 cards on the list. Innovation: [ 9.1/10 ] I really like the heatsinks that’s included on the Prophet 3’s memory modules. They release heat better than any of the other heatsinks that other GeForce3 boards have. All other features on the Prophet 3 are standard fair. Installation and Setup: [ 10/10 ] Installing the Prophet 3 was just as easy as installing the others. Bundle: [ 8.0/10 ] Hercules includes PowerDVD and 3Deep, which they include in every other graphics card they send out. I would like to see more recent games like the ones that Absolute included with its Morpheus GeForce3. Price: [ 8.5/10 ] You can find the Prophet 3 selling for around $385 USD, which is not as inexpensive as I hoped it would be. If it had features that weren’t included in other GeForce3 boards than the price might be justified but it doesn’t. |
