Compared to the more expensive 850MHz Thunderbird, the 850MHz Duron does hold its own; especially considering its price. Here, the much less expensive Duron 850MHz is only 3.3% slower than its equivalent Thunderbird brother. This is really good considering that the Duron has only 1/4 the L2 cache of the Thunderbird. It's obvious that the performance and price of the Duron is one very hard to compete with. With that in mind, our Duron 850 really showed off some processing muscles and was able to keep up with our 850MHz Thunderbird without a hitch. The larger cache allotment in the Tbird helps it excel in some applications, but the Duron really keeps its pace. ![]() With 32-bit scores, the marks drop accordingly, but the race is still pretty much the same.
