SiSoft Sandra

SiSoft Sandra is used because it is a widely available benchmark that is quite popular with end users when it comes to comparing computer systems. Most motherboards score within less then 1% of each other, so let’s see which one comes out on top.

Here we see the Shuttle AK31 v2 come out on top. This is most likely due to the redone traces between the CPU and northbridge. The K7S5A comes in second place beating the M7VIB in FPU but losing to it when it comes to ALU.

Sysmark 2001 Internet Content Creation

Sysmark 2001 Internet Content Creation deals with heavy multimedia and graphic content. We all know this content is bandwidth intensive and is a test of the chipset itself. Since two of the boards are based on the same chipset, it will be a test of how well the chipset is implemented.

The ECS K7S5A was unable to complete Sysmark 2001 and just generated script errors. After attempting about 5 times, I gave up completely with Sysmark and the K7S5A. Here we see the AK31 v2 outperform the M7VIB by 8%. It looks like Shuttle has been doing their homework and has created a board that does very well when it comes to bandwidth intensive applications.

Sysmark 2001 Office Productivity

Sysmark 2001 Office Productivity is more of a general consumer and office environment type test than Internet Content Creation. Sysmark Office Productivity deals more with everyday use office applications such as Microsoft Office, Dragon Naturally Speaking, and general web browsing. These tests are typical home and office tests, and are a pretty good indication of what types of performance increase home users will see.

In Office Productivity we see a negligible performance difference between the only two contenders capable of completing Sysmark. The AK31 v2 beats the M7VIB by an insignificant number. Sine Office Productivity tests how well the system performs with Office Applications; it is more of a test of a system’s storage subsystem then core logic performance.
