Posted: September 21, 2000 Written by: Tuan "Solace" Nguyen Benchmarks  Considering that a GeForce2 GTS on this system gets up to 6500 points in the 16bit test and 6000 points in the 32-bit test, this really doesn’t look all that impressive. Nevertheless the performance is good. It’s just not as good as the GeForce2. The Voodoo5 is a good performer in 16-bit rendering though, that’s considering that 3dfx has always been pushing at 16-bit for speed.  In Fastest mode the Voodoo5 is a great performer. Even though it lags behind the GeForce2 cards, its performance isn’t anything to grump about... but it’s nothing to write home about either.  We see above that the drop in 1280x1024 is very steep from using Fastest to Normal settings -- almost in half! The card drops considerably. |
