Features Continued...
On the bottom right of the board, you’ll find the integrated controllers, as well as the RAID/ATA133 and floppy connectors.
Unlike its predecessor the Dragon Plus, the SY-KT333 features a Highpoint HPT372 controller which is known to work and perform better then the previous promise chip. For those of you that don’t know, the HPT372 supports RAID 0, 1 and will also function as a normal ATA133 controller so you can have 4 additional IDE devices.
Powering the High Speed USB 2.0 ports is a VIA VT6202 High Speed USB 2.0 controller which is EHCI 0.95 compliant. Unlike the 686A/B south bridge USB controller, the VT6202 actually works.
The onboard Ethernet is provided by a Realtek 8100B controller which is highly integrated and performs very well with native support by most OS’s.
Unlike some manufacturers who’ve gone the cheaper route and integrated the codec based Realtek ALC650, Soyo has stuck with the full hardware DSP solution from C-Media, the CMI8738. The DSP provides support for EAX, A3D 1.0, DS3D, and Digital Output I/O provided by the included audio bracket.
