Benchmarks

Plextor has put a lot into ensuring that when you make a CD, you end up making a perfect CD. It has put a lot of thought into designing a drive that can take impacts and a drive that can take buffer underruns.

When I was testing, I reduced the read speed of the UltraPlex Wide reader that I used when testing CD to CD so that it wouldn’t supply the PlexWriter with data fast enough. The WRITE light on the PlexWriter stopped about 40 times during the entire dupe. That’s a total of 40 buffer underruns that were recovered from BURNProof. The technology works and it works very well. The CD I burned is perfectly readable and I have no trouble copying data off of it.

This drive is definitely for those who go between the office and the house. It’s also really good for those who have small cases and don’t have enough drive bays. It’s a little more expensive than the internal version but the costs go into the extra materials and power supply inside the external casing.

Overall, the 12/10/32S External is targeted at those who cannot make use of the Internal version. Based on all the things that were good about the Internal version, Plextor has created a sleek, portable version of the 12/10/32S that’s easy to setup, reliable, durable, dependable, and it’s the speediest external writer out there right now.

Overall Rating: [ 8.9 / 10.0 ]
