NVIDIA nForce2

Final Thoughts

From the looks of the nForce2, NVIDIA is trying to pack as many features as they can into their nForce2 chipset to propel themselves ahead of the competition. While they are on the right track to fame, they aren’t quite there yet. There are still a few features that could be implemented that would make the chipset even better. First off, we would really like to see them implement SerialATA into their chipsets.

NVIDIA’s new chipset offers plenty of features, but features aren’t everything. If it can perform as well as the competition, we should start seeing NVIDIA take a much larger role in the chipset market. We can’t wait until we have samples in the lab to start benchmarking. With the chipset offering everything from USB2.0 and FireWire to onboard Ethernet, we will probably begin seeing a lot of OEM manufacturers starting to use nForce2 based motherboards in their systems. Price ranges haven’t been announced yet, but we expect them to be in the sub $200 range depending on what configuration you get.

Chipset samples are already at manufacturers labs, so we should start seeing nForce2 based motherboards as early as September. Boards will be available from companies like Asus, Abit, and MSI. This should start adding some competition to the industry and make companies start releasing more powerful, feature-packed products at lower prices. The industry has been moving extremely slow over the past few months, hopefully this will start to bring things back to normal.

That is all we can say about the nForce2 until we actually receive review samples to test. Until then, we will leave you drooling with excitement about NVIDIA’s upcoming chipset. Hopefully it can perform as well as it looks on paper.
