Bump Mapping, etc.

The kick-ass NSR provides such stellar effects as bump mapping through hardware, with near perfect calculations and minimal "dimples that should be pimples" and vice-versa -- you know, they look like they should go out but actually go in, etc.

In addition to this, since all of the bump mapping is done on the textures, there is no reason to use excessive polygons and geometry.

So, you've heard about the Quake 3 level that Nvidia released? Maybe you haven't... either way, check out the last page for some neat screenshots and closing comments.
