Conclusion

Mad Dog Multimadia

I was really surprised by the results of the tests. I didn't expect the 52x drive to cut 30% of the writing time off of the 48x, I thought it would be something like 10%, so that was a welcome surprise. The only odd finding was the CAV speed of the 52x was actually slower that the 48x drive. I'm not sure why this is the case, but the drive is quiet and fast, so I won't lose any sleep over this fact.

When all is said and done, I really like the 52x24x52 drive; it's now in my primary system, where it will remain until. Mad Dog does a great job packaging the drive with easy to follow installation instructions for noobies, and the inclusion of everything you need to put this drive in a new PC. The only real negative I could think of is the inclusion of Nero Express. I would much rather see full Nero suite, but Nero Express caters to the novice, it's easy to use and works perfectly. What more could you ask for?
