Today marks the start of yet another evolution within the Intel desktop product division. Since its launch during IDF (Intel Developer Forum) Fall 2003 the Pentium 4 Extreme Edition series has provided an added benefit over both the earlier Northwood and later Prescott core based Pentium 4's. Primarily designed and marketed at only the wealthy and most demanding users - including within that clause elite gamers - its prime objective was to offer this benefit through higher levels of performance as that possible from a standard Pentium 4 - this all in the aim to satisfy those who absolutely required or simply desired the extra prowess. From the time of launch no new major advances have occurred with the highest performing version static at 3.40GHz. Now after a year lacking fresh technology has come the time to change that, Intel introduces the Pentium Extreme Edition 3.46GHz.
