Unreal Tournament 4.32

The main reason why UT isn’t as fast as Quake3 isn’t because the GeForce2 Ultra can’t render UT fast enough, it’s because the UT engine leans heavily on the CPU that you’re on. Well, that, and it was designed with Glide in mind. I mean, with a 1GHz “Thunderbird” Athlon and I’m only achieving 75.6FPS in 800x600 @ 16-bit compared to Quake3’s 128FPS in 1024x768 @ HQ, it’s a sign of what kind of insane hardware you’ll need to get UT up to Q3 speeds.

On to 32-bit.

32-bit mode here just proves my point that UT is CPU is really more CPU dependant than anything. Respectable marks though nevertheless.

We’ve come down to a simple fact, the Elsa Gladiac Ultra is the fastest card out there.

Analysis

Right now, the Gladiac Ultra is the only GeForce2 Ultra based card out on the market. So you have no other choices if you want nose-bleeding speed. This card absolutely scorches every other benchmark we’ve seen. Of course, prepare to spend some big bucks… somewhere in the $500 range will give you ownership of this fine piece of hardware. Is it really worth $500? Technically, no. We would like to see the VIVO module come shipped with the card and perhaps other features like hardware monitoring. But that question really depends on you. Are you a true hardcore gamer that can’t stand playing without the latest piece of machinery? If so, here’s your card.
