Conclusion

I appreciate anything that makes my life easier, and this hub does just that. Having the ability to plug my USB peripherals, both 1.1 and 2.0 into my PC without having to crawl under my desk, or unplug something else because I've run out of space, is an upgrade worth making, in my opinion. I like the hub's color, though I would also like to see it available in more colors, which would make it more appealing to the hardcore case-modder. I only mention this in passing, my rating isn't affected by the hub's color. More importantly, I like the fact that it worked flawlessly. I tested both USB 2 and USB 1.1 peripherals in it, including a gamepad, a USB 2.0 external hard drive, which I will be reviewing shortly, and a compact flash media card reader, and every time I plugged something in, it was recognized.

There really is only 1 flaw to the hub, and that is that it's limited to being installed in a 3.25 inch bay. If your case only came with one, it has a floppy in it, and this product won't work for you. Belkin should include a kit for mounting it in a 5.25 inch drive bay as well. Maybe they'll have something like that in the future, but until then, if you have USB 2.0, and need to extend it beyond the dark recesses under your desk, I would recommend this hub to you.
