SysMark Office deals with Office based applications like Word, Excel and the occasional web browsing. These tests are typical office and home tasks and are a pretty good indication of what types of performance increases a home user will see. ![]() Here we don’t see great improvement in performance at all. While the dual Athlon MP setup is still the leader, the SP systems don’t lag behind by much. These tests aren’t bandwidth intensive either and stress the storage subsystem more than the processor/core-logic system. Again, this SysMark test is more of core-logic and bus speed test than it is anything else. ZD Dual Processor Inspection The DP Inspection benchmark attempts to stress the system with professional level applications that deal with drafting, graphics creation and compile time. It’s based on three popular professional applications that are all benefited by a MP system. The first of these tests is Microstation SE. ![]() Designed for CAD and engineering applications, MSE takes heavy use of floating-point calculations and we’ve already seen the huge gains that a dual Athlon MP system offers above a standard SP system. The results remain true here as the FPU power of the Athlon MP takes it far and above a Pentium 4 system. Because Microstation is more FPU intense than it is parallel, the single Athlon 1.2GHz system stays in the race quite well compared to the Dual MP system. |
