The Test

In SiSoft Sandra’s Memory bandwidth test, we see a strange result. Here we see the 7VRXP outperform the AT7 by 3%, this seems to be the opposite of what usually happens, as Abit boasds usually dominate the competition. This could most likely be due to the extra integrated components the AT7 has compared to the 7VRXP.

In Sysmark 2002 Internet Content Creation where memory bandwidth matters, we see the AT7 pull ahead of the 7VRXP by a single point. This result contradicts the results from SiSoft Sandra’s memory bandwidth test, but a mere 1 point difference doesn’t really translate much into real world content creation performance.

In Office Productivity where the performance of the I/O subsystem matters, we see the AT7 fall behind the 7VRXP by 2 points. This could be due to many reasons, but it seems most likely due to the integration of multiple devices hogging up the PCI bus such as the 4-Channel RAID controller and LAN. Nonetheless the AT7 still performs extremely well in terms of Office applications and such.

In Quake 3 Arena, we see the AT7 fall behind even more. Here the AT7 falls behind by 5%, this is a very drastic performance difference compared to the 7VRXP, as most boards only fall behind within 1-2% of each other.

In 3DMark 2001SE, we see that the AT7 is able to keep up with the 7VRXP, falling behind by only 2 points. This is a much better performance gap compared to the results we saw in Quake 3 Arena.
