At this rate, it might as well have Top Secret written all over it. Once you take a look underneath all the marketing, the Morpheus is your regular GeForce3. Since I am talking about a GeForce3 however, “regular” is really an understatement. The Morpheus performs with the best of them and even edges out to win the race by a small margin. ![]() What it really came down to was the extras that came with the Morpheus. Two full version hit games come ready for your enjoyment because that’s exactly why you would by the card -- to play games. And if you feel inclined to send in a piece of paper, No One Lives Forever will arrive at your door step. I know 3DPower/Absolute is trying to step into a very competitive market and doing everything it can to compete, but it would be good if it didn’t give fancy names to regular things you can find on other cards. I’m talking about the cooling system. I mean, if it the cooling system was marketed for show, then I’m curious as to why the TV out feature wasn’t as well. I would have called it something like “XtremeImage Display Output” or something like that. Instead it was just called TV-Output Option. These are just small things but really make it funny when I’m looking at the specifications sheet. I like everything else about the Morpheus though. It performs very well, it doesn’t come with garbage applications, it comes with three very cool games and everything’s sold at a great price. If the Morpheus GeForce3 is any indication of what we’ll be seeing from Absolute Multimedia in the future, I can’t wait to see what they come up with next. I hope its GeForce4 comes in a titanium enclosure with lights and switches. |
