I haven't ever heard mention of this before, but when I get home, I am going to give it a try... https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SeamlessVirtualization anyone messed with it before? It says on there that with RDP 6 you can get it working right, but it doesn't look like rdesktop supports v6. I did just notice that it runs on irix though. I wonder if it'd be possible to hack this to work over the network somehow...
Where did you read it only runs on irix? Any computer than can run VMware should be able to do this. Imagine an application server and the client running simultaniously(Different opperating systems of course) on the same system with all the ports forwarded to localhost. You can do the opposite and run linux apps on windows using an X server.
lol Electric_head... way to show him!! I would also like to know... so would this app let me run XP run inside of Linux, eventually I think I would like to have gentoo as my main desktop and run parallels with xp when necessary for windows media player (for myfreepaysite.com and possible other necessary windows apps)
I meant they have an rdesktop client for irix (also). They just need to update it (its a version behind I think)
Yeah, read the link. It isn't parallels, it just runs like parallel's coherance mode. You use VM player and a special app installed onto the VM. If you just want WMP, you can run a regular vm using vmware or xen, no problem. This just integrates it a lot better with the OS
Do you have a link for xen? So what exactly do i need to do in order to play a a windows media file off of myfreepaysite on linux? I think i would like to try arch linux out if at all possible, I only really need wmp whenever i do the deed, any links would be helpful, thanks
I'd go with VMware player if you're going to virtualization. follow the link, set all that stuff up, then you can probably setup an icon (or w/e) for internet explorer, it should do the rest fine on its own in the background
