Yeah, its a pretty serious field in there. Even if the machine doesn't get damaged by the impact, it still costs like $25,000 to shut it down and restart it.

Copper isn't ferromagnetic, so it is safe to use in MRI suites. Metal in general, however, might distort the imaging. I worked on the design for a few MRI suites while I was a co-op student. They actually use copper nails for the drywall so that the nails don't get sucked right out of the wall. Must have sucked when they figured that one out...
Some of my favorites from the MRI patient safety checklist: Have you ever had an eye injury from working with metal? Do you have any inplanted port/pumps? Do you have a penal inplant? :shock:

No, but a compressed gas cylinder exploding containing a gas that accelerates burning could be bad. Hell, just the shrapnel would scare me.
