ok now make this very clear that i break the speed limit pretty much every time i drive and i love speeding.....now that that is clear....

if police seriously wanted to enforce speed limits.....why wouldnt they just go to the manufactures and have a country law enforced so that a governor would stop all cars at about like 75 or so.......

i mean some cars are made to top out at aroudn 120 or 130...but if its illegal everywhere to drive that fast....then why are they permitted to go that fast...

NOTE: also this would only really make sense if it was a law enforced in all countries because i know that most of the cars are imported

    just wondering

is this to give highway police a job?

some people like to take their cars to a race track, there are no speed limits there..

the autobahn also has no speed limit..

there a few reasons for it

I speed everytime I drive out through the boonies. In town though I rarely speed except through neighborhoods and down my main street where the speed limit is 35...

It would have to be fairly complex, since you have to allow for passing other cars, and some States have higher limits than others. It might be doable, but it will be expensive, and the Big Three have good guardians of the Bottom Line lobbying Congress with all that free travel and stuff...

I think the speeding is more enforced because of the money they get from the tickets rather than actualy caring about safety...

yeah i thought about passing...and that different states have diff speed limits...but i think the max speed limit is 75....or maybe 80 in nevada somewhere....im not that sure though so correct me ........but more of the idea of speeding with cars...i just thought it was a decent argument

People wouldn't buy the cars, even if they never intended to speed in the car.

The truth of the matter is that the posted speed limit is generally not inforced too hard on a dry, clear day, depending on the road. Most cops won't stop a car doing less than 15 miles per hour over the speed limit on a 65-75mph highway.

Out west I believe there are some road with no speed limit.

Like Australia, head up to the northern territory and the highways have no speed limits.

And the Autobahn as mentioned above. No speed limits yet they have a much lower vehicular fatality rate. The reason? The requirements for obtaining a driver's license are more strict, meaning a lot of dumb ass people can't drive. By a show of hands, how many of you saw stupid fuckers on the road today?

...and i think it costs like $1200 to get a driver's liscense. plus they're traffic system over there is so smart and they're cars are built so much better than shitty ass american cars. i remember seeing a 'Modern Marvels' about the autobahn. they test RUF cars on that.

All I know is that we need to restrict driving in this country. Fucking soccer moms, old people, teenagers! On a slow day I see a dozen catastophic driving mistakes. Even as a new driver I knew better than these fools...

I'm getting rid of the 155 MPH governor on my car in about 3 weeks.

Gee, no getting anything past this guy. I see a cure for cancer in your future.
  18. I think there used to be one in neveda, but the only one that I know of thats still in existance is in Montana.

Also, I've noticed that in the cities around here the speed limits are considerably slower. Something that would be a 50 in the town(you know, not a city with its own cervices and whatnot) is a 35 in all of the neighboring cities.

also, I generally go anywhere from 5-10 mph above the limit, all the time.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure the automaker puts the governer on the car becouse at that speed it becomes dangerous and unstable. thats why the grand am cant go more than 97MPH, its unstable after that.

I did read a few years ago that a few systems are in development...
Basically, the roads would be equipped with broadcasting nodes that send signals to the cars (equipped with onboard speed controllers) to determine the max speed the car will go. They're also apparently working on integrating steering and intersection detection...

I'd hate to "drive" with that... I usually go 120 on the way to work... (km, not mi... minivans can't go 120mph...)

Unless I had no other choice I would NEVER buy a car like that. What would you do if there were an emergency and you needed to get someone to an emergency room or something? Sometimes there are good reasons for driving fast.

third party automobile parts manufacturers would probably be screwed and ricers will also decrease (which is a good thing i guess)
