$400 budget gaming computer?

    my friend despertly needs a new computer, he needs a computer, the tower itself, and a new mouse/keyboard... he wants to be able to play bf2 on medium settings and he demands 1gb of ram.. i don't know if this is possible but :?

    400 dollar machine aint gonna be worth shit, you could make a machine for that price which will run bf 2 on medium, it wont be future proof at all, and will be worthless in 6-12 months. but, its not my money.

    He can play bf2, but not on a gig i dont think
    lets see...
    Does he have another computer which he can take out the HD and CDROM? Or is this from scratch?

    he has an cd drive, i can get an 250gb sata drive for $40

    Well I build computers for people (friends mostly) and this is what I have as my cheapest system:
    BIOSTAR TForce6100 Socket 754 - $70
    G.Skill 1GB DDR500 - $100
    Antec Solution SLK1650B w/ 350-watt - $63
    AMD Sempron 64 2800+ Palermo -$75

    Now the BIOSTAR mobo has pretty shitty integrated graphics so I'd suggest spending the remaining $92 on a nice graphics card. Think Geforce 6600GT for around $130 though I hear ATI has good cards that are even cheaper. I garuntee this system will play BF2 on medium settings. It will also be quite overclockable because the 2800+ Palermo rules and the DDR500 RAM will allow high bus speeds.

    250gb sata hd
