Here the Pentium III takes 274 points while the Athlon shoots to 323 points. Athlon takes the lead by an incredible 49 points, breaking all records so far in online reviews across the Net and on magazines.

The numbers don't lie folks. The Athlon is the real deal. The pimp of hardware pimps and the Mac-daddy of processors.

Performance:

AMD has made a real Intel-killer this time. Filled to the chin with 7th generation processor technology and architectural advances, the Athlon processor is ahead of its time and is a welcome change. We like Intel for its stable and excellent performing processors, but competition in this market doesn't hurt the consumer. The Athlon kicks Pentium III ass in all categories and leaves the Pentium III smashed into the asphalt.

Innovation:

With licensed technology from the creators of the first 1GHz+ CPU - Digital, the Athlon has a lot of headroom and expansion capabilities. The EV6 bus is far superior to Intel's GTL+ bus architecture and leaves the Pentium III standing in the dust. In fact, the Athlon has the power to take on a dual Intel rig. Floating point performance is caliber and has the ability to scale with bin-ups.

Conclusion

In a few more months, AMD will release its Thunderbird versions of its Athlon processors. Fabricated at 0.18 microns and sporting on-die L2 cache at full core speed, it is poised to decapitate Intel. AMD has showed the world that it will no longer be pushed around by Intel. And besides, Intel just lost in crown. The Athlon is, in every way, a far superior product filled with innovative thinking and design. While the Pentium III hangs on to 3 year old technology, the Athlon brings to the table cutting edge design and features. The Athlon is the performance king. For now.
