Your DS game list and recommendations (new titles)

Okay, list your DS games and please also comment on the good / bad titles.

    Castlevania - Dawn of Sorrows

omg nigga, that shit is hawt yo. Seriously, one of the best 2d platformers I ever played. Hundreds of different attacks, powerups..

    New Super Mario Bros

oh what can I say?? The single player is awesome, good old Mario style. The graphics are pretty neat too! The multiplayer is also very fun, you can go VS mode (collect stars faster than your opponent) and also play mini-games (mario party-like)

    Tetris DS

Not much to say, but the multiplayer is fun as hell. Enable the items and pull some dirty tricks on your opponent

    Metroid Pinball

Just got it. Graphics are great, very fun little game. The rumblepack is so-so

Tao's Adventure, Curse of the Demon Seal

RPG. Very very very simple. Go into a tower, climb it. Too simple for hardcore RPGers, but it's a good little game to pass some time

    Mario Kart DS

    multiplayer fun?

    Mario 64 DS

Bah... not a big fan of it

    Brain Age

somewhat sucks. The speech and handwriting recognition are unreliable at some moments. Very ordinary

    Bomberman

Funny game. We all know how Bomberman is played, so nothing new on this topic. What's appealing with this game is the multiplayer. You can play with 8 bombermans, which can be human or CPU. You can also form teams. The loading times on multi are a little long though.

    Meteos

Awesome puzzle game. Great in multiplayer, on par for me with Tetris for multiplayer fun. A cool feature is that you can unlock nifty stuff by collecting Meteos in the single player missions (weapons, access to new planets)

    Trauma Center: Under the Knife

Very different kind of game. You play a young surgeon that has to perform various medical acts. You use the tools at your disposal and control the game via the touchscreen. A little hard, but fun overall. Get it if you see it cheap!

    Super Princess Peach

Bought that for my girlfriend, since the difficulty is toned down and the theme is all cute-based. Very fun sidescroller if you need a change from Mario. The possibility to affect your gameplay according to Peach's various emotionnal states is a nice feature.

    Bought but not played yet:

    - Trace Memory
    - Metroid Prime hunters
    - Lunar: Dragon song

Good idea LK. I could use some personal input from people on what to do with my DS. Right now all I am playing is old school SMB (NES). I got the original Zelda too, but I'm not really having fun with it. Kinda hard to control and NO DIRECTION what-so-ever.

I was thinking of getting Brain Age, New SMB, and Mario Kart when I could find them "pre-owned". What I would REALLY like is something that makes good use of/shows off the touch screen.

I enjoyed Brain Age alot. You just get used to it's quirks (like writing 8's with two circles, not just one motion; or 5 like an S). I guess I had more fun cuz both my gf and my brother used my cartridge too so we'd try to top each other in scores. It's hard to complain for a $20 game (didnt meant to rhyme).

I also love Mario64. I was addicted to it; getting all the stars and whatnot. I adapted very quickly to the movement and had no trouble.

What I spent the most time playing were the Super Mario Advanced series for the GBA. Of course after hunting used ones down for a couple weeks, Nintendo decides to re-releaese them (for cheaper than I got 'em used, too).

And not enough can be said for MarioKart, especially the Wifi and multiplayer modes.

Tetris DS - Relieves boredom with the single player. I was hooked on the multiplayer this past weekend. I played over 80 games in 2 days. I guess it's the ease of the multiplayer that makes it so fun. I usually play 1 on 1 battle. I had a battle with one person that went about 10 rounds and last 30-40 minutes.

Mario 64 - Damn fun game. My first DS game. I got it as a strong recommendation from Crackpipe. I played it a good deal but stopped when....

NEW SUPER MARIO BROS - came out. My god, this is just a step below SMB 3. The developers were really smart on using the new moves. The placement of coins and ways of reaching certain areas. The bosses were a bit of a letdown, but an instant classic. I still need like 3-4 more stars to complete.

Brain Age - A good, cheap game. I played this originally on crackpipe's ds. Had a blast just by trying it out. This was my second DS game purchase. It's fun, but gets extremely repetitive (sp?). It's collecting dust now.

Mario Kart DS - This game offers a lot. It's addictive and frustrating at the same time. Lots of unlockables and a crap-ton of tracks. Really fun multiplayer but wifi is kind of annoying with the constant dropping of sore losers and actually finding a regional/worldwide match.

    Next up on the list:

Metroid Prime Hunters - The multiplayer looks awesome and a DS first person shooter that actually got GOOD ratings!

Meteos. Don't forget Meteos. Highly addictive puzzle game.

fifa 06 - just fun as hell to play and I haven't even played multiplayer yet

big brain academy - little more in depth than brain age, both are addictive/fun/can play against family

tetris - what others have said

mario kart - playing with 6+ your friends leads to lots of fun + cursing.

I don't have new super mario yet, but I've played mini games...lots of fun.

age of empires - I lost the cartridge : (

I bought off someone mario 64, waiting for it to come, from what I read it's not just a direct port...so that's exciting.

I bought virtua tennis for gba (was debating b/t this and mario power tennis tour). Graphically simple, but I've been enjoying it.

In fact, I've loved every single moment with my ds and every game so far, never bored with anything.

    --------

I can't wait till they re-release the surgery game

and I want to pick up bomberman/castlevania/nsmb

    ...

    and maybe nintendogs : P

super mario 64 - great game, enough said, multiplayer sucks on it.

yoshi touch n go - addicting as fuck. I remember playing this with some kid at school, I wasn't actualy friends with him he'd just download the game off of me in multimedia class and we'd play. I'd occasionaly flip him off. it's fun but now it's collecting dust.

mario kart DS - everything that you needed to know was already posted

tony hawk's wasted sk8land? american sk8land? - fun ass game. not enough people to play online but if you get a game going with someone it's pretty sick. dead kennedys - california uber alles and black flag - rise above are in the soundtrack. you get to tag around and make your own designs or upload from other players different designs

viewtiful joe DS - great game, pretty hard the first time. lots and lots and lots of touch screen puzzle. I'd recomend buying a screen protector if you're going to be playing this (it was called viewtiful joe scratch in japan for a reason). second level has the resident evil 2 music. :) game runs at 30 fps instead of 60 like in gamecube. still though, great game, just not enough action but lots and lots of puzzles

animal crossing - i felt gay when i bought this and saint seiya constantly rips on me for playing but shit. it's probably the funnest game i own for the DS. sometimes i get carried away and play this game for too many hours. only buy this if you have a lot of time, because once you're in, you're hooked :)

age of empires DS - great great great great piece of shit. the game is pretty fun but for all the bugs it has, it's not worth the 30 dollars I payed for. I stopped playing it for a while because it was so goddamn buggy. sometimes you get everything and it still says you're missing and you won't be able to end the mission. sometimes when you use save and quit option your game bricks and sometimes the DS doesn't read it. unfortunately nothing has been done about this and i wish i could trade it for advance wars.

feel the magic XX/XY - wario ware but with a story. really really fun. get it if you can find it for like 10 bucks. it's really great and lots of crap to unlock but the minigames don't ever get boring. however i've heard that warioware is the better game

Really? Animal Crossings is that good? I've heard good things about it but had doubts about getting it. How's the wifi on it?

btw, friend code is 150-397-166-177. It's easier to read with dashs.

the wifi in animal crossing is basicaly going to other people's towns. theres like this website where you can buy rare items off of, this whole animal crossing thing is way out of control, people pay millions of money (in game money) to buy certain items and stuff.

ok i just picked up metroid hunters and fack this game's presentation is wayyyyyy over the top and i played a few rounds on wifi and everyone owned the hell out of me but it was fun as hell, the game is a bit easy so far though, i already completed about 20% and the hunters ive met were really easy to kill so far (but i've only beaten about 3 or 4 of them) the intro/preboss/postboss cut scenes are rad =]

Yeah, I picked up Metroid Hunters as well. I get my ass kicked all the time on WIFI. But then again, I'm sure they're used to the controls. Its a bit strange controlling the view with the common action buttons. Gimme your friend code and we'll play sometime.

Just got NEW SMB and MK DS .... FUN TIMES to be had!!!

I think one of the "Brain" games might be next (Academy or Age).

Has anyone tried the Resident Evil game for DS? Just wondering if it was fun/worth the price.

someone dropped left it (RE DS) at my roommate's work and he braught it home. i played it for 5 minutes before turning it off. he played it for a little longer. bottom line, it is a really bad game. for the type of game it is the graphics look cheesy instead of scary, and the cutscenes are not done in cg, they are live action recording, and seem like a really bad horror movie.

if you're still interested in buying it, we'll sell it to you for 5$ or something like that.

I bought my gf Animal Crossings and she put in a good 5 or 6 hours the first day. So I figured it's good enough to buy and bought a copy yesterday (Reaver bought one, too). Man, it's pretty addicting. I've put in a good 6 or 7 hours in two days. It's mostly fishing but it's still fun. Multiplayer is w/e, just hanging out and fishing/buying. It's a great game.
