So I have been looking for a GREAT looking but reliable super gas friendly daily driver for a while and decided a couple months ago that it was going to be a 5th gen Honda Prelude. I have been searching up and down and left a right for something I could afford (being laid off and all). I finally came across this prelude on the Fresno craigslist. The price was right but the engine block was cracked. Well to me that is not a very big deal. So contacted the guy and drove down to take a look at the car. After seeing the car I made an offer and the guy accpeted it I should be able to locate an engine block within the next week and have the car running by the next weekend. The car is a cluster f*ck since he failed to mention he had the head unbolted and some random things taken off and random hoses cut(I got a trunk full of parts hooooray!). MODS that came with the car: JDM Mugen Racing Seats*not knock offs* Skunk2 Cat-back exhuast High flow catalyic converter V2 AEM cold air intake Sparco 4-point harnesses Sparco roll/harness bar DC SPORTS Header CCC stage 2 clutch New rim and tires Planned MODS: Remove sparco roll bar Remove sparco 4 point harnesses Remove Mugen seats and install factory seats Repaint Front and rear bumper Replace and repaint hood Find and install rear seats Here are some poopy cell phone pics on its way to its new home... I dont plan on drag racing this thing at all. If anything I am thinking about taking it to willow springs out near lancaster and trying my hand at some turning action. The car is an SH so it should handle sharp turns pretty well. ..I plan on taking more pictures as I progress on the car so you guys can see the mess that I bought lol hopefully when I am done the car will look something like this...
Looks slick, have you priced out a H22 shortblock? Not exactly the cheapest Honda motor around. You sure the Mugen seats aren't knock offs? You can get some nice cash for those if they aren't.
WTF you should've bought my Talon! DUDEEE Anyway I've always liked those Preludes, especially in black or silver (but black will be hot as SHIT there in the summer). Those seats would look pretty sweet in my Insight. If they're real, I'll trade you for S2000 seats. You can sell all the extra stuff off that car and make a few bucks. What did it cost you for the car? Hmm is that shifter on backwards? And yes, lol @ gangster lean.
I also lol @ the racing harness on a street car. Along with that roll cage you have the ultimate street machine you can crack your skull AND compress your spine in a crash with Sell all that crap and make a fortune while turning your 'lude into a real slick car
DAN: I bought it for the reliability... lol I would seriously love to have your talon but I need a dead reliable car. After owning 2 AWD talons I know what kind of headaches they can be and do know your car has he best track record of all the talons I have ever seen but I just need something reliable that I will not mess with. And they are real Mugen seats(have the receipt somewhere). I would trade you for your s2000 seats but I do not want leather. I want clothe seats. I have leather in my truck and dont really care for it honestly. I do plan on selling most this crap and tossing the e brake billet cover and tossing that stupid shifter knob he has installed.
yea I priced them out...but then I found out the H22 block for the SH prelude is even more expensive and harder to come by. I am going to have to have my uncle resleeve this block at his machine shop me thinks. :wasted:
Well I made some progress on tearing down the engine bay today... The way he left the engine bay After a little work and some muscle I removed the whole head and intake as a single piece. Engine as it is now Can you see the crack in the #4 cylinder sleeve? Now I have to locate an H22 SH block...it would cost to much for me to resleeve this block and buy new pistons and what not. I am trying to get this thing running again the most cost effective way possible. Wait until it is done...you will not recognize the engine bay
very clean outside, and yeah preludes are fun, also i love those buckets.. good luck oh and how much did you pick it up for
lol @ "removed the head and intake as a single piece". Of course you did, it's a Honda.. it's easier to do that then try and get some of the 12's under the intake runners.
I cant find a damn H22 SH block...it might take longer to get this thing done than i thought. The sooner I find an H22 SH block the better... Can you check in your area for me Dan?
There's tons of JDM engine shops in and around Hawthorne, CA. I tried looking at websites but couldn't find a SB. You're probably gonna have to start calling these places and see what they have currently in terms of SB's.
eff an h22, do a b20/b16a frankentein all motor beast! and it could be cheaper? I've seen em on sale for under 4k
They are expensive seats lurker...the guy bought them for over 1k...i was asking 800 obo plus some stock prelude seats.
Its an SH model and comes with ATTS and I want to keep it intact. If I put anything other than an SH block in the tranny will not work or the engine harness or computer... blahhhhhhhhhh
yea i do want to do some suspension mods...what do you recommend? i have no idea about anything when it comes to imports.
captains log, star date 5312009 I am livid right now. The original owner left me a cluster f*ck of radio wiring everywhere in the car and it looks horrible and was not run properly. ughhhhh I also found out he removed all the stock speaker wiring through out the car....double ughhhhhhh I dont care that he removed his dumb radio before selling the car to me but I do car that he left me another headache that should not be necessary. On a good note..I located a block in Illinois and it is being shipped my way as I type. I got it for a killer deal of 150 shipped! w00t...how lucky was that? Hopefully I can finish taking out the original block this up coming weekend and rebuild the new block as well and have the car running the weekend after. I will take pics during the engine rebuild process
