how did jay leno seem in person? you should invite him to our secret santa so we can send him a comb.
He was awesome, just a regular dude that was super into cars. After eating lunch I helped him clean up and save some leftovers! He let us wander about and see any car we wanted (even the $12 million Mclaren F1) and he's like an encyclopedia of wisdom about every car he owns. He found out I like Hondas so he started up his 60s S600 and revved it up to let me hear it. He also knows how to drive/operate every car in there (160+ cars I think/ 100 motorcycles?), even though some are from the early 1900s, steam powered and so-on. It's amazing what he knows about cars.
"How come Dan didn't get to ride in the car with Jay?" - Megan the girlfriend Also, 2 different girls' comments on how Alex's shoes match the car.
The car only seats 2 people. But Alex is the head honcho, so I figured it makes sense he rides with Jay I didn't even want to be in that video at first, but I thought it was a pretty cool opportunity, so I said yes when they said we could both be in the vid... of course I was a bit nervous etc
Awesome! What a rare and wonderful privilege to get a personal tour of Jay's garage. I watch every episode with my buddy Kyle, his knowledge of cars is amazing.
That was really cool to see Dan, you did a great job. I loved to hate on Leno after the whole Leno/Conan thing but hes starting to grow on me. What hes doing now with Jays garage is fantastic, I only hope it gets bigger.
Yeah I heard you were a fan of Jay's garage It was absolutely a privilege, it was just such a mind blowing "pinch me I must be dreaming" time to see it with such access. I recognized most of the cars in his collection and had such a good time talking one on one with him about several of them. I wish everyone could get the full tour. Since they have all the tools required to run a shop (many lifts, machine tools, engine dynos, prototyping, 3d printers etc.) I could walk in and never leave. It's like a much more amazing version of Shark Werks (which is already a pretty amazing place!). The hard work we put into this car, the many many expensive engine failures and stressful phone calls, tow trucks and clean-ups / teardowns rebuilds, literally 100s of hours fixing and tuning this car, we knew he would love it if we got it there in one piece. I've driven some amazing cars in my day and still think this blue thing is the best one I've driven and I have probably put about 5000 miles on it. Thanks man, I know I did OK speaking, but I know I screwed up on the eye contact etc - looking at Jay was scary because there was a camera behind him and big lights. I tried to pretend they didn't exist so stared at the engine instead I've never had such an auto-pilot experience, I just kept thinking, OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT just because 1 million people might watch this. Still I knew it would be huge so I had to do my best. Alex is a real pro, but he's done a bunch of TV stuff before. I'm sure most of you guys know but this is the same Alex from Sharky Extreme / Voodoo Extreme.
