    Looks all nice and homey. I've been on the remodel from hell for the last two months. It's 98% complete with a dec 15 deadline on the interior completion. This started out with new windows, doors and siding and has turned into a one man, whole house/yard remodel. Geeeze, I even spent the first whole week under the house correcting 50 years of short cuts and mistakes with only 16' of ground to structure clearance.....
    .....I almost walked away from this one at that point.

    If you want to sell your old furniture I'd be interested. All I own is old stuff that's been given to me by friends.

    IMO those two little windows are just asking for white wooden shutters. They would add that much more to the wooden detail in that room. :)

    But like I said, it looks great as-is.

    I want wooden shutters! I could make them but it would take forever, I could buy them but it would be like $200! Someday...

    I'm borrowing your color scheme (seriously) for the remodel I'm on now.

    Yeah, definitely do something with those windows. I feel like they're a little prisony in current state.

    But my holy hell, awesome work. The boxed ceiling niice. Good job.
    How many man hours would you say you're looking at? I imagine the learning curve was pretty daunting :p

    I would say that if I were to average our our over time I probably put in about 3 hours of work a weekend:eek:

    So about 300 hours. Wiskas probably could have finished in two weeks!

    Two weeks would sound reasonable, maybe less.
    In two weeks on my present renovation, I managed to:
    * insulate entire under structure (that was a totally fuct job)
    * re-side 3/4 of home after removing and re-framing two exterior doors
    * install new windows
    * paint exterior
    * demolish 4 rooms: two bathrooms, laundry facility, and master bedroom
    * frame in two new exterior doors, four new windows where there previously weren't any
    * level all floors
    * frame in two new walk-in closets, new bathroom and a laundry room

    The rest of two months have been consumed with remodeling the kitchen and bathrooms, drywall, interior paint,
    change orders and alterations to the original plans, new flooring throughout, Install all new doors and trims throughout,
    new baseboards throughout, roofing and roof repairs and drip edgings, addition of a deck roof and new deck, concrete removal and some landscaping.

    This all started with windows and siding and progressed to a whole renovation from there. Thank gosh it's a time and materials job :unibrow:.
    Needless to say, I'm ready for some time off. All that's left are a few odds and ends on the exterior, constructing a new shed and
    coating the decks. Perhaps I'll be done and out of there by Christmas Day.

    UPDATE!!!!

    I finally finished the laundry room:D and it only took two and a half years and some permanent hearing loss:eek:

    Everything was built by me including the counter tops and cabinets. Overall I'm happy with the results even though I can see where my mistakes are. These were my first real cabinets that I made and I learned a lot about the process that should make it go a lot quicker when I decide to do the kitchen (or furniture in general). As always the part I hate the most is the painting. All drawers where made with soft/self closing hinges and slides. The wood I used was birch plywood sheets and poplar. The one tool that helped the most and that I wished I had when doing the living room is the 12" dewalt planer, it just makes everything so much smoother to start with and helped get everything sized perfectly.

    I have a rack mount UPS in the lower cabinet which will also house my storage/media server some day. The tall drawer holds a trash can.

    Nice work, the floor and counter look great. Is that laminate or solid?

    It's solid 3/4" Brazilian cherry. I actually kind of wish I went with laminate, I like the look and feel of real wood but it scratches too easy for me and because it's pre finished its a PITA to fix.
