How about the blacksmiths, the cotton spinners, the horseshoers, the manual farm pickers that were displaced by mechanized farming, the rickshaw operators and horse n buggy drivers displaced by taxis and automobiles, the coal shovelers that worked on steam trains...

People find new careers and skills or other non-skilled labor to replace their now obsolete career. It's the way humans have always operated and technology has always continued this pattern.

And.......how about the machines that took those jobs that were crafted by domestic labor proudly displaying a: Made in USA stamp, now stamped: made in China? ;)
We had an industrial model that worked really well for us, now it works really well for China and India. What we have now, time will tell.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not slamming the use of robotics. I'm just wondering what we're giving up when a robot takes the place of 10 human jobs and the tech sector only creates 2 jobs and the services sector adds 3. (I just pulled those numbers out of my ass, the real numbers may be more or less dramatic) Changing careers is not the issue when jobs are not being created to change to.

Sure, but it's not happening and won't happen without a proper safety net to allow people to find and invent new careers.
