I had a buncha dynamat extreme laying around.. well actually it turned out to not be enough Well first off I did it while it was raining outside without a heatgun :/ no electrical socket access in the apt.. i used dynamat extreme btw my door is done similarly to that where i left the big gaps open for regulator access but i did put some inside the panel is it supposed to be fully enclosed? and i also put dynamat around the back plastic baffle (i don't know if its right or wrong) i will take some pics soon
If you have any left you also want to put some sound deadener on the outer door metal. I basically followed the guide here on my doors: http://www.raamaudio.com/pages/How%2dTo.html What 86mcss said is also key since your door is basically a speaker box and those big ass holes need to be covered up.
its not my car guys.. lol i did put some leftover stuff in the inner panel, i'll just get some more and cover the holes up.. should be easy.. i'll get some pics soon
holes need to be covered and dynamat on the inside shell of the door. thats when it gets expensive you can try alternatives like peel and seal from lowes/home depot elemental designs eDead (if you can even find it) ebay "adhesive sound deadening" (im sure theres multitudes of cheaper rolls of sound deadening material out there) goto a junk yard and scour interiors (behind backseats) for layered sound deadening sheets which will be composed of a rubber layer on a weird recycled cloth material or something FATMAT dynamat would be my last resort to sound deadening a car or anything. too expensive for what it is. and when you go cheaper with an alternative, you can double layer it for added deadening. if you wanna sound deaden your car, you gotta go ALL the WAY or else youre just wasting your time. behind the front dash, doors, roof, floor, if you have a sub in the trunk you dont wanna layer between the back seat and trunk cauze you want that bass to enter the cabin area. layer the top, sides, bottom, and rear of the trunk (NOT the front of the trunk that goes into the cabin area) good luck. and remember, that shit adds weight to your car, on top of your already installed sound system.
it was leftover dynamat from my other car and i've thought about go all out, but well see.. anyways updated it semi proprely, wow what a difference they make to midbass.. just need to remount my x-overs somehow.. i will probably buy some raamat or fatmat as ali recommended none of that stick and peel crap for me
if you go the peel and stick route remember to prep the surface properly or you will be wasting your time and money. by prep properly i meaning cleaning it and then rubbing it down with some type of alcohol/thinner to complete remove all oils and film.
Nah, that'd be too yellow. One rule for me: no yellow in my vehicle! There is also a non-self sticking alternative that works great and is cheap by comparison: laminate floor pad. Not the cheap foam stuff, but the foil lined dense rubber pad. about a buck fifty/sq.ft. On top of that, you'd have to adhere it with spray glue or contact adhesive.
