Acquired this truck today 84 chevy diesel manual transmission roller. Will never have to worry about smogging. Cummins turbo diesel out of a 97 Dodge. Also the result of one too many four lokos at king of the hammers have been working on truggying it out, need to find my neighbor when hes available to use his bender, have a couple HID's and summit 100 watt off road lights going on for new lighting updates to come on both
Tow rig? LOL, KOH did a number on your rig. If you go the truggy route, post a build thread. Did you burn that left-front tire out on a rock? Looks pretty bald.
This truck will handle all of my pick em up truck duties to include some serious towing. Tires are all at about 50% tread on the blazer but with 42s they don't look as deep.
1500 for the truck 1500 for the engine. Looking for a nv5600 6 speed transmission and a np205 transfer case for it. Might have a np205 in the bay area available on craigslist for 100$, waiting for the dude to get back with me, if so road trip this weekend!
little more tube done on the blazer got a np205 transfer case for the truck, craigslist score 200$, still need a transmission, intercooler and about a million odds and ends
Are you using a dodge tranny as well? Will you have t have a custom drive shaft made or cut down one? I'll be watching this thread.
Yeah im going with a dodge nv5600 6 speed manual. I have the stock drive shafts I was planning on getting them lengthened/shortened as necessary to keep the costs down. The rear driveshaft in this thing is a beast, has a carrier bearing and probably 6-8 feet long total. Last night I did the "killer dowel pin" fix; to keep a dowel pin from sliding out into the timing case and into the timing gears you put a tab about the size of a guitar pick under a nearby bolt to keep the dowel pin from sliding out. They sell a kit with the front main seal, timing cover and a tab for 150$ to fix it, we just made a tab with my plasma cutter and I found a complete fel pro gasket kit for my engine for 90$ on amazon. The gasket kit wont be here until monday so I have to wait to paint the engine until after I change all the gaskets. Also blocked off the EGR with some plates I made. So I guess my project this weekend is to finish cleaning up the frame, the previous owner started boxing the frame hiding brake lines and fuel lines behind it and stopped boxing at the frames weak spot, so im removing all of the boxing, I figure the 1 ton frame will be plenty strong.
Not familiar with the smaller Cummins engines but does that one require a CAC? If so, do you have one?
The engine came with one, I'd like to use one. I'm looking for one out of a 94-98 dodge they are supposed to fit good in my radiator support.
