    Gonna devil's advocate this. Lots of emphasis is placed on women's athletic performances, especially in the past few decades when they've been able to prove to the public that their competitions are just as legitimate as men's. That said, objectification is happening on certain female athletes because they manage to retain what socially qualifies as female indicators while building their skills and bodies.

    Plus, there's lots of male athlete objectification as well. Derek Jeter, Tim Tebow, and quite a few others are objectified quite a bit among some of my female friends. Hell, was at a Rockies game with a lady friend's family yesterday and her sister was going on about how she likes "big male, athletic butts".

    From my POV attention was given to both looks and performance. Athletes having a lot of sex during the Olympics is a tradition as well is this also a problem?

    Maybe we can get one of the ladies' opinions on this, but it seems to me that Jenneke is trying to attract attention to herself. It's hard to tell about the sprinter Lalova in the OP. Obviously the Croat basketballer Mirusa did a photo shoot, and I read in one of those links that a German sprint-canoeist has done nudes for Germany's Playboy. I guess if I had bods like these women I'd be showing off some, too (or a lot!) but that's always what guys say.

    For whatever its worth, I did notice that Jenneke totally owned her heat and Lalova seems to have won hers, too, though it's harder tell from the angle in that one.
