Yeah, I have been hearing a lot about microsoft security essentials. I might switch from AVG to that when I get around to installing Windows 7.
It's how mine always rolls out, as viewed by Process Explorer. Since we both use Windows XP, I figured it would be the same, based on the number of svhost entries. I only avoided mentioning AVG removal because it can be such a pain, and really requires someone expert to go in and root it all out, even after a "successful" uninstallation, and not even that is guaranteed. AVG's only real problem is with false positives, and if it's currently working for her, I'd just leave it go.
eh? I have not had problems with uninstalling it before. elaborate please? (in fact, about a year ago, i uh, "accidently" replaced a corporate deployment with symantec. ~50ish PCs. no problems)
I have had issues with removing avg. Usually it involves registry permissions and avg has a removal tool but I've also had the same issue when trying to install it...never figured that one out but I didn't care much to try either.
I've had the AVG uninstall just tell me it couldn't uninstall, without giving me a real reason, on someone else's computer. In addition, not everything is removed from the registry even when the uninstall is "successful", so that some things occasionally still think some AVG components are still there.
i stopped using avg and started using avira on clients pcs + popup removal tweak avg+hijackthis+spybot+malwarebytes = clean pc
Soooo what you guys are saying minus what Goofus Maximus said is that I should find a better program...?
I guess avg just expired or something on my computer...I'm trying to find a download so I can have some anti virus protection 'n' stuffffff....... http://btjunkie.org/torrent/NOD32-A.../33328c1cd5e7baa1f949c1ff6c184079c7d8edcfef6e What do you guys think of this?
limited user account + IE8 + vista/7 will stop 99% of it. giggidy - just get the free version of avg or microsoft security essentials.
That's what I had before.......I tried to download it again and it kept saying that my license had expired....even though I uninstalled it... hmmm...is it bad if I haven't had avg for almost a week?
