is there any national law to printing your own custom signs to subtly put in the windows, that insight gruesome warnings? just wondering if anyones gone to the extremes to scaring or warning someone about breaking and entering i understand that if someone wants in, they'll get in regardless... but any and every method can help.
I personally would put the sign money towards the first month's rent in a better place. FedEx pays decent, right? Why live in the hood if you don't have to.
yea im looking right now. actually. i got 3 people in real estate that are my resources and help but i dont think it matters where you go, crime is everywhere
That is very true. I just had my small single axle landscaping trailer (used for hauling our stump grinder) stolen. Luckily enough, we just bought a better, larger trailer to use. It was stolen right out of my driveway, with nothing in it. Worthless shits also tried to steal our stump grinder, but couldn't figure out how to disengage the hydraulic drive motors and make it free wheel. Dragging a 1200lb machine up a ramp onto a trailer isn't the easiest or quietest task in the world! I also live in a pretty quiet neighborhood. Never would have expected it! ~Will Courtier~
Meth/coke/etc addicts will take anything that can be quickly turned into cash. Then there's all the other newly poor people who still have somewhat of a life they want to be able to still live. As the economy stalls further, crime of oportunity will escalate as well as the crime from the rise in addictions related theft and violence. I'm locked and loaded.
I'm guessing that corpses impaled on pikes would probably be frowned upon. Maybe a fenced in hole in the ground, with a sign saying "This is the lime-pit where we throw the corpses of all trespassers."
Iunno I think anything beyond a beware of the dog sign or a security system sign w/ some faux wiring on a visible window may be too much. If you go too medieval it's almost like screaming you don't have shit in the way of real protection. And if you're more afraid of neighbors than interlopers anyway, any of this is superfluous because neighbors will know it's crappola.
Crime is everywhere, but there is less chance of something happening in a better neighborhood. Torx, what's the name of your neighborhood if you don't mind me asking? Assuming you live in Memphis proper.
Some facts: http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/preliminary-annual-ucr-jan-dec-2011
It can always change, but the simple fact is that violent crime is down and has been going down for decades. These 2011 numbers certainly fall into the time frame of the economic depression, yet crime has STILL gone down. It is a very interesting phenomena because it has always been thought that economic troubles lead to an increase in crime, yet this has not been the case in recent years.
I wouldn't trust those statistics. Police forces across the Country have been tied to statistical reviews, so that they game the numbers. Quite famously, in New York, in fact.
I assume you've seen the theory that it's abortion related. That is, undesired children were never born therefore can't have grown up into social delinquents. I personally think it's because even though the economy sucks, even America's poor has access to entertainment devices and distractions such as TV, game consoles and even cheap PCs.
Yes, the abortion theory is quite interesting. As for the 'the numbers could all be lies', well sure, but what else do we have to go on?
... crime is everywhere but I'd rather have to deal with being angry at the neighbors kid for doing donuts in his brand new car in the middle of the night in the suburbs as opposed to having my car broken into in the inner city. What do the people you know working real estate do? It isn't that hard to find a cheap place in a better neighborhood..
I think it's both, and that A helped lead to B. With fewer delinquents in the pool there's more resources available at the bottom, so they can all afford Xbox 360s and pot. Personally I don't think we have many poor people left in this country. Everybody's fed, and quality of life is amazing. Just ask 950, he's seen what real poverty looks like.
It's the people a couple steps up the ladder from the bottom that fall through the holes in the system and are the most displeased with society. The working poor.
The logical thing for those folks is to go ahead and drop to the bottom, let the welfare state pay for their food and healthcare, and then work off the grid. Screw the Man, basically.
What's happening though, is a lot are giving up on the system completely and finding a better way to live other than capitalism. The word is out and the movement is growing. And that really threatens the man.
I love this one-- violent crime has been trending down, yet . . . Hmmm, what possibly could have happened in the 80's that caused our prison population to skyrocket?
Where were you able to find statistics for 2012? Just curious. Most of what's available is from 2009/2010. http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/11/justice/fbi-crime-numbers/index.html
