Me and my girl will finally be able to take some vacation time in October and we are having some trouble trying to figure out where to go.

We would like to be able to bike ride, river hop (hiking to/around/next to a river) or view some nice water falls. I'd like to do some sort of camping but I think it's too late in the season to do tent camping comfortably (too cold) so we were thinking about going some place with a cabin.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

We are interested in somewhere in northern California (maybe around redding).

Camp Far West I live near sacramento and I've been to Camp Far West when I used to be in Boy Scouts, you should check them out! I haven't been there in a long time though....

Hmm not a lot of info on it though:(

Maybe Yosemite is an option, I just checked them out and it appears that in October there is the possibility of camping with no reservations. The only negative I see though is that the water levels are pretty low.

Whenever anyone says Northern Cali, I think of the Redwoods. Sounds like you have , more or less, central cali in mind. There's always Sequoia and different places in the Sierras.

I like to camp in the Lost Coast. It's about 3-4 hours from Napa so maybe an extra hour from Sac. It's actually supposted to be warmer around October, so it might be worth looking into. I like it because you get the Redwoods mixed in with the ocean.

Then you're talking Monterey!!! The coast above there is pretty wet from October till may, but who knows, the weather definately has not been typical lately.
