...came back with an [early 90's GT Dyno Air]. Got it off eBay last saturday and it just got here today. Wasn't too hard getting the handle bars, seat, and front wheel on but I can't get the damn brake line in the handles. Plus I have to go fill the tires with air but I'm dying to ride this puppy. I'm using it to get to school which is five minutes down the road and I wanna save on gas and time with parking. Oh, revisiting childhood.

    Dyno's are so whack! :p

    How much was it?
I cannot wait to move so it's feasible to ride my Diamondback to work!

That thing is mint! Looks almost new.

EDIT: I'm more of a Redline guy, but I did own a dyno for a while. I think I was the fifth owner, but it still had a ton of life left in it when I gave to a friend. That thing is probably still being used somewhere.

It was $150 with $30 shipping. So $180 total. There was another one I wanted which would of come out cheaper but I didn't bid cuz i thought it was gonna high. I missed out on it and it would of come out $40 cheaper but oh well.

Oh, I am really jealous of those wheels though! Black six spokes were my childhood dream.

I think they're going pretty cheap on eBay. Maybe $25 for some new ones if I remember correctly.

I used to ride and was sponsored by a local BMX shop. I rode Redline Pro 250s because I wanted Redline to sponsor me. 4 years of riding competitively, and I had the same race frame for 4 years. Those bikes are awesome.

Sweet Jesus. You were a badass. I'm guessing you poured every penny into that bike right?

I ride a Proline 24 right now. I don't race or anything, I just use it commute locally and for exercise. I love the thing, it was a couple hundred up front, but hasn't broken or worn out in the few years I've had. I've ridden that thing hundreds of miles, and crashed a few times, and it's still like new.

YES!!! They looked so badass when I was younger. I would have done terrible things for a set of them on my old Diamondback.

just take the tension off the brake cables and seat the housing/cable in the handle and hold it there while you retention the brakes.

Are those footpegs way up on the forks? If so, that's sweet.

I had a VFR, compared to my weight that thing was heavy as hell.

Yea, they're fold down pegs on the forks. Must make a it a bit more comfortable to ride on teh handle bars.

Really? Cuz the VFR's I saw on-line looked so lite. They seems skinnier than this bike or other GT bikes.

Update: I couldn't get the brake lines in. I tried the advice I've been given but just couldn't do it. So I figured "screw it" and walked it over to the gas station to put air in the tires. The front tire is perfect but then the back tire wouldn't take air in. It might be a hole in the tube or it could be that the little metal thing where you put air in sunk into the wheel a bit and the air hose wasn't fitting properly.

I'm taking it to a bike shop tomorrow to have them show me how to put the brake line in and to check out the back wheel. Wish I could ride it today but the shops here close really early (4pm ?) and I worked all day. Sucks just watching it sit here not moving. :(

Also, I've just started hearing names such as Diamondback and Redline recently. Never heard of them before. They were selling some sweet looking older Diamondbacks on eBay for pretty cheap. If this thing gets stolen (Jah forbid), I'll probably get one of those.

I loved to work on my bikes, I would always take them apart and grease the bearings, upgrade the parts. I actually took parts from a bunch of broken bikes and made a bike that you could pedal backwards.

I could never get the mountain bikes to work properly after I worked on them though.

Well, the shop poured a lot of money in to it. ;-) I was pretty good, but not good enough to push it to the next level. I blame it on my size. I was 6' tall by the time I was a sophomore in High School, and it always seemed like I was losing to the smaller guys. Well, that's my excuse anyway and I am sticking to it.

I have another question for you guys. How much should I spend on a lock? Are U-bolts usually the best style? Should I also get some smaller chain locks for the wheels? Something tells me if I lock up the frame someone would still steel the wheels.

I always liked those steel cable combo locks. You can run it through the frame, through the front wheel or back wheel and into the bike rack. And when you're riding just coil it around the seat.

and then someone comes along and snips one bit and pulls the whole thing out.

the new york series are alright but a bit overkill for your bike I think. see if you can find the krypto evo mini or something along those lines. I highly doubt someone is out there walking around with a 15mm wrench looking to steal cheap bmx wheels.
