http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/15/3076519/vizio-reboot-pc-american-hdtv-success-do-it-again I had no idea this was an American company. Let alone a totally bad ass american company. Also, posted to tech since I guess it kinda belongs there.
Oh damn, I didn't know any of that either. I'm only familiar with the name because of its ties to Walmart. It'll be an approach like Vizio's that'll save Windows. Bundled "crapware" is the single worst thing about buying a new computer. But I wonder how competitive their prices will be because of this. It looks like they're striving for hardware innovation, or at least serious usability. Combine these factors and it seems poised to rival a MacBook in price. Now, to overcome Windows 8. . . .
Great story. But I have to agree with the analysts. Sure, it's a "stagnant" market, and the big guys are "asleep". But unlike the TV market, the PC and laptop market is going to shrink and at some point virtually disappear. Tablets, docks, and the cloud. That's where the future is.
Docks to transform your tablet into a PC? Though not that I disagree with everything being mobile, I think confining people to a desk to access information is as archaic as looking through long shelves of books for information.
