So after a few years of bitching about needing a new tv, I finally did something about it, and completely revamped my living room.

Upgraded subwoofer, receiver, and screen, as well as furniture placement and light control. I moved my couch about 3 foot back, and bought 5 black out curtains for the side windows. It opens the room up quite a bit, and makes the screen less "in your face". Things aren't completely finished yet, I still have to run a power outlet in the ceiling and pull my hdmi cable as well. Also, I have to get rid of the pull chains on my ceiling fan, they hang down into the screen (as you can see in the X-Files pic).

The receiver is a pioneer VSX-1121k, which completely blows my old 99 dollar Sony best buy special out of the water. Speakers are still Polk Monitor 70, but now I have them bi-amped with the new receiver, and it's opened them up quite a bit. Center is a CS2, and surrounds are Monitor 30. The subwoofer is a 24" wide TubaHT my dad and I built with a 300w Bash amp. The TubaHT is INCREDIBLE. It is ungodly loud, and I'm only putting ~15V to it max. I bought the plans here. BFM's designs are really good, and very efficient. I haven't decided how I'm going to finish the box yet, which is why it's still ugly plywood lol.

After a shit ton of debate on a pj, I finally decided to go with the HD33, mainly because it was such a toss-up between the ones I was looking at, and I found a great deal on this one. I still don't have any 3d glasses, but 2d is incredible. The colors just POP and everything is crystal clear. The 120" screen is homemade. I bought a roll of black out cloth from Carlofet and followed their how-to-guide. The screen cost less than 120 bucks, and looks pretty damn good to me. I've got no idea how it compares to professional grade screens, but at 1/10th of the cost, I'm not too concerned.

Oh yeah, i also bought a PS3, and got direcTV. No more pirating movies and tv for me. 2 guys I work with got busted for piracy, and I'd rather not go through that hassle, besides I've got plenty money, and I don't have to deal with scrounging for what I want to watch, or compressed audio/video any longer.

I'm not sure why theyre not loading right, I'll reupload the pics in a sec.

not sure what tracker they were using, but it was torrents. I've used Usenet in the past, but got tired of the hassle, and went back to torrents. Now i'm going legit. Besides, harddrives are expensive now :)

okay pics reuploaded. Sorry about the quality, can't figure out how to set my camera to do this thing justice.

Also, the projector wasn't too pricey. I mean screen cost around 120, I got the projector on sale for around 1100, and assorted hardware and mounting stuff was around 150. So for around 1500 dollars, and a few hours of my time I have a crystal clear bright 120" tv. I'd say 3dtv, but glasses are going to tack on another 300 or so dollars. The real drawback with the pj is the research and calculations you have to do to make sure everything lines up perfectly, and the extra work of mounting and installing everything. It's alot more difficult than a plug and play tv set, and you ahve to consider more things such as room brightness (with my bright living room lights on, it's almost impossible to see the image, I've either got to watch with no light, or the kitchen light on.)

Yeah, the wire you see in the pic is going in the attic tomorrow, and I have hdmi wall plates. I still need to tidy up everything behind the entertainment center stand.

David, not making crazy amounts. But im doing fairly well. Im typically pretty cheap, which helps me save for bigger purchases.

That HD33 is an ASTOUNDING value, really the best bang for the buck going in projectors right now. I'll be interested to hear how the 3D is, and also if any of your viewers notice the DLP color wheel/rainbow. I really worried about it with my Mitsubishi and only one person has ever really noticed it, my 66 year old mother! Must be her damn trifocals or something...
