If a draft was instituted there would be a huge anti-government movement in this country. I am of the opinion that the majority of Americans ages 18-30 highly disapprove of the state this country is in. A draft would just throw everyone over the edge. Edit: BTW, I like your signature =)
I don't think they would have a draft. We have a lot of men right now that love their jobs and would stick to it.
I've seen this country in a total uproar at the government, and it aint pretty. I believe you may be right.
There will be no draft, because there are things we SHOULD be doing right now, such as rationing and war-taxes, to: A.) Make everyone feel a part of this war, and B.) Be fiscally responsible. We're spending ourselves into a mountain of debt through supplementals that don't go into the deficit calculations, while hardly noticing the war on a personal level at home. If the Bush administration won't do THESE things, they're not even going to consider the third-rail of the Draft... and the draft age cuts off in the mid-30's, I think. I was on the tail end of elegibility when I joined the Army, anyway...
Agreed. The will be no draft, as the war on terror and in Iraq would be the least of the government's problems. Total civil uprising and riots! Besides, non-professional soldiers aren't worth a shit anyway.
I'd be afraid of my commander charging me and throwing me in the brig with full shackles for war crimes because some Al-Qaeda members in civilian clothes told a reporter that I massacred a bunch of people. The military's new slogan should be "Join us now, so we can prosecute you for war crimes later."
