my g220fb is starting to take a dump.. i was planning on selling my tv (Panasonic TC-L42U25 LCD tv with HDMI ports) can i just use it as a monitor instead? or am i better off selling it and getting a cheapish sub 300ish ips/va panel

i'm worried cause the viewing distance mostly, and the resolutions i'm going to have to push

    i run a gigabyte 6850

Your tv despite being larger is likely going to have a lower resolution than your pc monitor. Just make sure your driver supports it.

I was one of the people who glommed onto the Westinghouse 37" fad. It was technically a monitor because it had no TV tuner, but it was really designed as a TV. I have a big desk and it sat at the back of it. Now I have a Sceptre 40". Both these monitors had/have HDMI and 1080p. If I have any beef with the Sceptre it's that text isn't quite as sharp as the Westy's. Gaming and internet and pron are great, esp. Flight Simulator.

thats sweet.. well i'm gonna sell it and get a ips actually.. the pixel density is a little annoying, and diablo3 ghosts a little, still not bad though.. great temporary, fonts are pretty good.

I've been using an 32" LCD TV for a monitor for 7 years now. This year I got a full 1080P and it's awesome for gaming.

I use my sharp 36" lcd for a monitor, resolution set at 720p (1280x720) 1080i is too small to read. Works well, hooked up with dvi to hdmi cable.

42" seems way too big, as my viewing distance is only 3ft though
    and 60hz is annoying.

I use a Panasonic 47" 1080p plasma as a 4th monitor at work. It sits on a wall about 3 feet away. It looks great. Way better clarity than my old 47" 1080p LCD.
