For some reason on my macbook, any other computer i've built at home, i can torrent fine, but my computer for some damned reason, i fire up utorrent, the internet comes to a damn crawl and i have to powercycle the modem/router is it my ethernet card?

i tried lowering the connections, etc..

could i be victim to comcast/time warner's famous speed throttling? i thought something was passed in court that told comcast to cut it out..

also i'm using their crappy scientific atlanta thinger is it worth upgrading to something like a surfboard with docsis 3.0? i'm not even sure if i pay rental for this thing.. or they sold it to me

router is a good ole wrt54g with dd-wrt.. soon to be turned into an access point

What about plugging directly into your Comcast modem and testing? If it were a portable I would recommend you take it to Starbucks and see if speed was slow there as well.

My guess is Comcast is throttling your PC by MAC address, which means you might be getting an RIAA/MPAA nastygram in the mail. Happened to a friend of mine.
