The Epic African Adventure Thread

Alright folks, in 24 hours I'll be on a flight to South Africa for what will be a 1-2 year adventure. Like last time, this thread will be where I will post both my new blog entries and random musings and photos that don't fit into the way I use my blog.

I love how open ended and loosey-goosey the plan is - "1-2 years..." ROFL! That's the way to do it though, leaves you open to pretty much any opportunity that appears.

At the airport now! I fly Seattle, USA -> Frankfurt, Germany -> Johannesburg, South Africa -> Cape Town, South Africa. Like 41 hours of travel time.

Also, we got our truck! A 1999 Isuzu 260 double cab, pictures of that soon.

Direct flights are really expensive. For his length of stay it's fine, he's got lots of time. But for a shorter trip? <1 month? No fucking way. At least not the flight back.

i forgot hes in seattle, so yea, those stops make sense.. i was thinking east coast to west africa

I still stand in utter amazement that planes can make it that far in two hops.
