They are trying to trick us into learning real things by exploiting a semi-played out fad.

    -1.

(not that the zombie apocalypse isn't real of course ;))

It's clever.... they should have injected more humor in it though... at least they didn't say it would never happen...

They certainly wouldn't want anyone learning something useful like how to achieve a sustainable lifestyle now would they?

    Our you guys serious?

It's got 4 silly paragraphs, then the rest is actually practical and useful information of some basic emergency preparedness. Knowledge and skills and equipment everyone should have. By attaching the title 'zombie!' to it look, it has already got YOUR attention and the attention of probably hundreds of thousands or even millions of people. Try and name the last emergency prepardness campaign you remember? Probably none, meaning this one, simply adding a few paragraphs to existing disaster prepardness information on a website, has worked and probably been very cheap.

    *sigh*

I live an emergency preparedness campaign. But yes, more needs to be taught to kids on how to survive many things including zombies and zombines.

    I don't fear zombies. It's redneck/negro rampage that's far more likely. ;)

Maybe it's just me but the timing of this is very ominous. The more I read the more it sounds like shit is going to hit the fan, and soon. QE2 about to stop, gov to stop buying bonds, hitting the debt ceiling... there's a economic storm brewing that could make 07-08 look like kids stuff. A lot of people are fleeing the dollar and going to gold/silver (I'm going to join them I think). Somethings gotta give and I think they feel it too. I'm actually pretty worried. I'm taking steps right to get a lot of my money to safety, the rest I'll bet against long term t-bills or something. The main thing is to get out of the way now and be in a position to buy when things look like absolute shit. That's my thinking.

you've seen the gold selloff happening, right? soros just sold close to $1billion
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/...gold/8524535/George-Soros-sells-his-gold.html
i'd be investing in medicene, MREs and ammo if you're really concerned. institutional investing isnt going to do shit if everything goes to hell like you think

I am going to stockpile a bit just in case, but for the most part I am going to carry on

Well sure, if it gets to the point were ammo is as essential to daily living as food then yeah, there probably won't be a stock market left to invest in. I think it's going to get bad, but not that bad.

As for Soros, all he did was sell his gold ETFs. Other reports suggest he's buying up stocks directly. Also...
There's worries about being exposed to US currency.

Eh, I'm no expert though. I'm might be dead wrong.

See now why I bugged out in '08? Tangibles, that's all that may matter if/when this thing goes south. Seeds, medicine, auto parts, things that are going to be in demand. Disregard the stock market, buy inventory.

Up to 315.5 pounds of dry goods now, and I might accelerate things a bit. Another few cases of shotguns shells, a higher capacity water filtration system, start buying Spam by the case. The water is what I worry about most, in total I probably have 6 months or more of rations. Frankly I doubt seriously there will be shortages. More likely there will be hyper-inflation and we just won't be able to afford things, causing riots and all that. Hence my comment above about fearing redneck/negro rampage was dead serious. The people on the fringes will be hit hardest.

Not just the "fringes" but the ones massed in urban places and population centers. There's going to be real world actual dawg-eat-dawg happinin' uppin dee-ah!

If there are going to be any shortages, it's going to be seeds and anything that enables self sufficiency. Good seeds that are not GMO, the kind that can grow more seed. Our culture is based on forming dependencies and our system of commerce has gotten really good at it. How can a lowly person like myself recognise that? It is so similar to the drug dealing counterculture I grew up with that it's almost
de'jaVu-istic. You all call it paranoia, but it's a case of paranoia based on the principal of: "it takes one to know one" and "you can't con a con".

I don't distrust industry, I know what industry is up to and that I can trust that they are after what I got. (ie: you know a snake will bite, so you can defend against it). It's the everyday guy that will knowingly sell anyone and everyone out for personal gain and label it as something acceptable that I don't trust.

even though this is kind of a joke.. i wouldnt be surprised if we really have one.
or at least a virus that makes people go uncontrollably insane to kill.
can you imagine such an event where people are killing to survive, and killing out of shear insanity.. who do you kill to protect yourself? whos insane, and whos not?
mind blown. that sounds like a good movie idea. they dont have the typical dead zombie characteristics, theyre like normal beings but when injured can continue to kill without pain

    EDIT: the movie The Signal.

i dont doubt anything these days.

zombie joke news seems to be rolling in, i guess because of may 21st.

On the very off chance that there actually is a measure of doom tied to May 21 ( points out that the best way to "hide in plain sight" is to dress up as something so ugly that nobody wants to look at you), imagine the scene on May 22. That is some great dissaster movie material right there man.

Anyone looking for quality seeds, this place looks like they sell a good product. This kit would make a good gift for somebody. :)

I was actually going to buy that seed pack. Two things stopped me:
    1) "We reserve the right to replace up to 4 types of seeds without consent do to inventory. "
    2) they don't actually have a wharehouse, just an address that is a mail service type place.

Not saying all heirloom seed sales are a scam, but enough are to warrant some disgression.

There's also another place I checked, that's how I knew what to look for at that place. The address listed on the website is actually less than four miles away. I checked the phone# to see if I could just drive over to pick up a seed pack rather than pay the $18 shipping and handling. The address was just a mail service. There are so many scams out there. I have my own seed from the last 2 years and some I picked up for this year. Harvesting the seed is actually pretty easy and the ones that came from seed two years ago are confirmed heirloom seed. if not, they would have made franken-veggies last year which more than half of the so-called heirloom seed from two years ago turned out to be. My corn last year was like something spawned by an alien. Definitly GMO although it was sold as hierloom.

This is the best place for seed: http://www.seedsavers.org/Content.aspx?src=savingheirlooms.htm
