I got to play it last night at a friends house, I haven't bought orange box yet because I'm sour that valve expects me to feel like i'm getting the deal of the centry by getting "5 games" for $50. To bad I've already shelled out $90 on HL2 and EP1 already. on top of that I'm getting tired of paying $20 for each "episode" I already paid for HL2, stop trying to milk it. EP 1 was 5 hours of game play for me. the fact that I can "gift" HL2 to someone makes me mad in itself, anyone you send it to would actually have to pay more to get the rest of the games individually anyways. besides that little rant though, TF2 was alot of fun, it seemed to run very well, had an awesome net code and overall seemed like a really good game. anyone else tired it yet?
I havent tired it yet, haha no I havent tried it. I really want to, but my PC isnt working at the moment. I do most if not all my gaming on my 360. With Halo 3 coming up though I doubt other mp games will be able to compete for my time for a while. Though when it does come out proper, not just beta, I think I may fix my PC and play it properly. I am miffed as well that they expect people that paid for HL2 and ep1 to pay again for everything. I mean its a great deal for those that haven't paid already. They should have an option on steam for those users that already have the individual games.. but whatever.
For just the three games at valves pricing you'd be paying $80.... If you knocked $10 off of Ep 2 so it matched ep1 prices, youre still paying $70.... I really dont get why everyone is complaining especially since you can gift off the games. I understand that it feels redundant to end up with the game twice. But the fact that they are pretty much giving away hl2/ep1 and ENCOURAGING that you give it to someone else, that's pretty rad... Just my take. It's a sweet deal regardless of how you cut it. +peggle
I've been playing the Enemy Territory: Quakewars demo. I'll be sure to check out TF2, I used to play TFC religously back in the day.
Well I know, but the issue is not how cheap the bundle is, its that they charge so much for buying the games individually. It just doesn't make sense. Not when they were going to have a specific game bundle for those that have HL2 and ep1. But no they decided to drop it...they could have just kept it as a Steam only option. Quakewars sucks unfortunately. Compared to the greatness of RTCW:ET, Quakewars pales in comparison. It honestly feels like a BF2 clone in most ways, except its not as fun.
I'm kinda pissed at the pricing too. All I really want is portal and Ep2...separately they cost as much as the orange box, only....I already have everything else....what a scam.
Uh, the only reason I'm not getting the Orange Box is because I refuse to pay for HL2 (again). If they just released TF2 on it's own for... $30-40, pricing it according to it's worth since it will probably have dick for maps and gametypes (see: Shadowrun). But no! Let's bundle this worthless shit with it.
The 'marketing' employed in todays vending sux acrost the board. i guess it was only a matter of time for Steam to resort to that crap.
Well, Orange Box is a fantastic deal on the 360 or PS3. Imagine never having the chance to play HL2 and now there's all this shit in one box. That's an amazing package for you. For the PC user they're shafting you though. I'm pretty sure in a few months they're package them all individually like they did with DoD:S and CS:S. As much as it all sucks, Valve is making a shitton of money, and as long as they continue to make A level games I'm willing to support their pricing decisions. I still play CS:S more than anything I own and it's pretty damn old.
Uh, you know HL2 came out for Xbox about two-three years ago, right? And nothing about HL2 is a good deal (unless it's free, but even then...)
