My opinion is that if you've got disposable income to build a system, then you've got disposable income to have one last hurrah in Colorado before you ship out.

Ron, I'm not a big fan of Shuttles its hard enough for me to work on a tower. Personally price cuts are like a month and a half away so I would hold out.

This isn't immediate and it's not my income, price is better when cheaper, so we'll see.

    Ron,

The full size case is hideous, like something Jenna Jameson shit out after an evening with Peter North. Go with the Shuttle. Also wait on the GPU as they will drop in price soon.

    Much love and cock,

    Ron

I thought this was going to be a video of the space shuttle crashing into a building. Also, the multiple Ron Jeremy avatars are awesome.

    HaHa I thought the same

if those are your two choices i'd go with the shuttle, the other case IS hideous.

It's neat, but I really question the Shuttle / 8800 combo.

I mean, check the measurements. the 8800 is fuckin huge, an take so much space in a regular case (As an example, I have an Antec Nine hundred)

Plus, I'd really double check the juice consumed by the 8800. You might be short in a shuttle.

Aside than that, I'd say goferit

My next system build is going to focus on silence, so for me I like the Shuttle. But I agree with Lord Kain, I'd worry about fitting in (and cooling) a monster PCIE video card.

EDIT: And the PSU is only 250W?!? I dunno...

When you say Shuttle vs Tower do you really mean Small Form Factor vs Tower?

There are alot of good alternatives to the Shuttle line. I rock a Apevia X-QPACK 2 case which is significantly smaller than a full tower but fits my 8800. The design is more efficient in using space. Also the cases come with a 500W power supply.

Are the proprietary motherboards any good? I remember back when I builtmy currect PC (3-4 years ago), I considered a shuttle but was told not to get one because the motherboards sucked.

what the fuck? people are still picking the 1.5yr old overpriced e6600?

    get this dude:
    Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail

    its:
    1. Cheaper
    2. faster
    3. higher FSB
    4. no brainer

Also, if you wait till February you can get this:
    Core 2 Duo E8400 3000 MHz 6144 KiB 1333 MT/s 9x 65 W LGA 775 January 2008 $183

    it has:
    1. more cache then the above cpu (6mb instead of 4mb)
    2. it is cheaper for a 3ghz chip
    3. runs much cooler since it is a 45nm size die instead of 65nm

I have a ASUS P5K-VM with the G33 chipset. I have never had a problem with it.

THIS is the kind of info I'm looking for. Saying it's bad or good is one thing, tell me what I should be looking at, especially offering alternatives is better. I appreciate this Ali. February is a little far off for us, kinda looking to get this done by thanksgiving or so. So you recommend a tower then? That is really my biggest concern, as the deadline approaches I will double check prices and availability of some more inner workings.

SO FAR I need to decide which Shuttle is better I'm not seeing a difference... and if neither then if my Mobo/Case choices there are good enough (looks aside, I chose the case becasue it came with 2 120mm and 2 80mm fans.)

Me too, see my sig, no onboard raid but it clocks like a bitch in heat. CPU-Z here It's MATX and will fit nicely in a small cube case w/ a PSU of your choice. Here is one w/ a psu. Check the reviews, It will fit your toys.

I'm with mr.ali on going for the e6750. Good value.

As for that tower case, I urge you to consider something more practical. Sure you might think it has got the wow factor (which it doesn't, it's tacky), but that's just a novelty man. Just imagine what it'll be like working with it day to day... Consider what it'll be like popping in a dvd or something, turning off the lights, sitting back and trying to enjoy the film while your computer case is sitting there doing it's best rendition of saturday night fever the whole time. God no.

The shuttle case on the other hand is completely rockin'. HMDI & Spdif, yes please! It's subtle, and quiet, and packed with practical stuff! It's no contest imo. But I guess it's all about what you're gunna use it for.

    Good luck.

It might've actually been someone on the board. I forget. This was like 4 years ago.
