OK, so I've upgraded to an LG BD390 Wi-Fi Blu-ray player. I can stream media from my network, or via the USB port, or on DVD/BD discs. So what's the best tool for ripping? I'm not interested in buying blank BD discs, those things are outrageously extensive. So I'll be storing them on hard drives. What file format?

Use AnyDVD HD to rip to ISO (and strip out copy protection bs). You can then use Handbrake or similar to encode in mkv.

You got the same player I did. I've been wondering this myself. I also have a JVC GZ HD320 camcorder. I need to replace the BS software with something that actually works to export to my computers HDD without so much loss.

Oh yeah, the BD-390 is awesome! I already downloaded a Blu-ray rip (mkv file), Wall-E actually, and it looked amazing. I have no intention of collecting a big library of Blu-ray movies like I did DVDs or VHS. Once there's a decent, reasonably priced HD streaming service I'll go that route. Digital distribution is definitely the future.
