did you expext any different from micro$oft I do have to admit I got my ps2 a few days after the release date and I had to eventully replace that. So thats what you pay for when you dive into something brand new. Problems.

Most of the high prices on ebay are caused from people bidding with a 0 ebay ranking. So i highly doubt most of the systems going for over 1000 are legit. You do see a lot though that are around 600-800 dollars. Nice profit gain there.

mine ran fine for 17 hours..i beat condemned and almost done with perfect dark i know alot of people are saying its best to have unit standing BUt from what i see there air vents on bottom too ,there block if stand it upright. thats why on gamestop there is a fan stand to raise it off the ground a little more for air flow.
Yeah it is viral marketing. Half of these claims are Sony fanboys making the console look bad.. There is probably 1% or so that are "defective", and even then, some people just crammed it in a bookcase and some overheated (which there is a "cure" for). My Premium console is running extremely well with absolutely no problems whatsoever. In my opinion, it's still worth every cent I paid. -Chris
Well firingsquad got a DOA unit, and they're pretty biased when it comes to anything review on their site. If the chances are 1% or so, I think the chances of a major hardware site getting a shitty unit are just as slim lol.
