Let's wait until the reviews are out. Apple seems to have been doing fairly well in the mobile gaming market.

Handhelds always end up sucking. Even the DS only has a few good games, and the rest is just garbage because they know little kids will make their parents buy it for them.

You can use the rear touch screen as R2 and L2 buttons I guess.

DS has a pretty amazing software library IMO. Very well rounded and there are more quality games than any previous handheld generation.

As for the NGP I'm honestly not that excited. More of the same is ok but I'm concerned that they will have all of this power and no great 3rd party games to support it again. Great graphics are right up my alley but it will increase costs to produce these games which could mean even less AAA games since budgets will be higher.

So Sony managed to take the phone aspect out of mobile gaming. Sweet.

This ngp seems to have a nice blend between swipe to play, like in phone gaming... and button play like in traditional handhelds. But i see too much swipe action in the uncharted demo. I hope they have an option to play using buttons.

Phone + camera + GPS + gaming = one device. I just don't have room in my pants for more than one gadget.

The NGP will be something to see, but, after the PSP's questionable success and the incidents that have occured in regards to the PS3 and how sony acts in general makes me not want to support Sony as a company. That said, if the device is worth it, it's got a better chance at success in my opinion than the 3DS has, but, I won't be crashing the doors to get it either way.
