So I finally got the rest of my parts for this system I've been putting together since january and I got vista up and running nicely and it runs great! But then I go to try and get my tv tuner working and it turns out that ati doesn't make a driver for it and even if they did, my favorite tv program, dscaler isn't really supported under vista yet Oh well, back to xp I guess
This is the reason I switched from my ATI Radeon AIW X1600 Pro to my NVidia 8800GTS. I was tired of driver problems... NVidia is great with drivers (especially Vista and X64) whereas ATI hasn't supported Vista or X64 at all.... I hope they come around sooner or later. Until then, I guess I'm an NVidia buyer. ~Will Courtier~
Yeah I'm pretty much done with ati. The only problem is that I really like dscaler but it's only compatible with certain cards and trying to find one that works with vista is nearly impossible.
HP doesn't support vista on anything remotely older than a brand new model. seems they're using vista as a marketing tool to sell more printers. the mobo i used only has two pci slots....a shitload of usb, but only two PCI. My audigy and NIC take up those two, so I'm in the market for a usb sollution for my video capture. Any suggestions? (must be vista64 compatible)
Dscaler is a program for watching tv but it does a lot more than that. Put it this way, it makes my software based tv tuner look better than a hardware based card, its interface is minimal and quick. It has features like being able to auto recognize the aspect ratio of the channel and fitting it to my wide screen display (so 4:3 content has black bars on the side but 16:9 content fills up my screen removing any black bars). Its akin to comparing windows media play (or real player) to something like the original win amp (before it got bloated).
