So many cool touches. The bats, flowing water, the 3d rendered map, the physics system allowing magical blasts to knock characters and items around. And the dual handed combat, brilliant! At least I hope that part is cool. If I'm not able to cast a spell while holding a sword and a shield I'll be a little put off.
Sorry to break it to you MSP but as far as I know, you have to "equip" your spells to a hand, meaning you can't have a sword/shield + spells. There may be spells that don't need to be attached, but I haven't heard of any.
I guess I'll get used to it. It was nice in Oblivion fleeing from a battle, sword and shield in hand, while casting a healing and/or invisibility spell, and then jumping right back into the fray. Seems like the interface for equipping the hands is pretty smooth so probably no big deal.
There are "Favorites" you can set up for equipped items, so you can hit a button and switch automatically. Not sure exactly how it works but you can see in the video that he switches from a fire spell to lightning instantly at 3:04 to 3:10 in video 2.
