Just watched these, absolutely fantastic! Great kung-fu action, but also solid films in every other respect. The characters are multidimensional and you care about them. Based on a true story too... I totally just watched IP Man the other day. Awesome movie. Didn't know there was a second one. I also recently watched that Jackie Chan movie on netflix, Little Big Soldier. It was surprisingly good. I didnt know Jackie was still putting out movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaOefp4IDps
Keeping with the Asian motif, these were all great films: http://youtu.be/OzNnCK5cd8Q http://youtu.be/6Gd1JcTYegQ http://youtu.be/tkwEFKdTckk
Thanks djsoulriot, all added to my queue. Anyone else noticing how Asian cinema seems to be where the best films are coming these days? Probably the best vampire movie I've ever seen was Korean...
I Saw the Devil is fucking awesome. Really brutal though. Man from Nowhere is also good if you want more modern stuff.
NP. I don't know about the "best" films but there are definitely a lot of gems to be found in contemporary asian cinema. I was really lucky to have a female Vietnamese professor for several of my film classes in college. She exposed me to dozens and dozens of Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, HK films that I probably never would've found or bothered watching on my own. So many great Horror, thriller, action films coming out of Asia.
So many movies I want to see. I've still never watched IP Man for example, not sure how that happened. I've been watching a lot of movies recently though, downloaded like 300 movies before I left and have had a fair bit of downtime the last week or two
Would have to see it at the theatre this friday, but:
